I love combining yoga and pottery making in my workshops because both practices offer a beautiful way to slow down, connect with the present moment, and create through mindful awareness. Yoga helps us tune into our breath, our bodies, and our inner calm, while pottery allows us to bring that sense of presence into our hands as we shape and create with clay.
Working with clay is a naturally grounding experience. The process of touching, moulding, and forming the earth encourages focus and patience, much like a yoga practice. There is a rhythm and flow in both — breathing, moving, feeling, and responding to what is happening in the moment.
In my workshops, I enjoy creating a space where participants can begin with gentle movement, mindfulness, and connection before moving into pottery. The yoga practice helps settle the mind and open creativity, allowing the pottery process to become a form of meditation and self-expression rather than simply making an object.
Both yoga and pottery teach us to embrace imperfection, trust the process, and enjoy the journey of creating. Together, they offer a unique experience of relaxation, creativity, and connection — a chance to reconnect with ourselves while creating something meaningful with our own hands.
